The way to save news and democracy is to burn the news down and start fresh. We need to abandon or dismantle media conglomerates, re-establish editorial independence, and combat misinformation with new standards. Embrace tech innovation, revitalize and emphasize local journalism, and enhance media literacy to create a trustworthy, diverse, and reliable press. We want news that isn't run by money. We want journalism that uncovers the truth and lays it bare. We want journalism that isn't afraid of pissing off the wrong people.
